Just finished up "Mushishi", which was absolutely fantastic. Going to start watching "Baccano!" soon. Recommendations: Mezzo DSA Black Lagoon Kino no Tabi Patlabor Galaxy Angel My tastes tend to lean more towards more obscure, artistic, indie, action stuff, when it comes down to it.

Wow, I recognize the name of some of those, but I haven't seen any of them nor heard of most of them. I feel really new. Or maybe they're newer animes? Or maybe obscure.
I have to be honest, I am an exchange student right now so I haven't seen anime in about 7 months--- and they wondered why I was homesick ^^
So, I was keeping up with Naruto and I plan to make a list soon of all the animes I need to see when I return home.
For recommendations, I recommend Cowboy Bebop! I'm a huge Cowboy Bebop fan. ^^ Also, anything from Hayao Miyazaki is wonderful to me-- but no series there, just films.

Bebop's great. If you loved it, DEFINITELY check out "Black Lagoon", and "Mezzo DSA". BL is basically a modern-day Bebop, and MDSA just kick arse. Actually, Miyazaki did do the series "Future Boy Conan", and has his hand in a few episodes of "Sherlock Hound" and "Lupin III". "Castle of Cagliostro" is one of my favorite films of his. "Baccano!" is amazing, btw. I believe it's my new favorite anime.

Ok, I'll have to put them on that list....that I still have failed to write.
Yes! 'Castle of Cagliostro' is great! I don't know much about 'Future Boy Conan', but I know about the few episodes he did. He also gave Lupin III the nice, funny style that it has in the anime. I believe the film was first and then he worked on some episodes. I saw the first manga from 'Lupin III' and after seeing and loving the anime I figured I would read it, but after seeing the first page I thought that it was an entirely different series. The manga isn't so humorous-- I didn't continue reading so it didn't have much of a chance with me, but still, Miyazaki made some major changes.

I'm THE BIGGEST YYH tard ever.
I watch it on a nightly basis. lol
I'm a huge funimation geek... I enjoy mushi-shi, kodocha, fruits basket, School Rumble, Peach Girl, Rumbling Hearts, Suzuka, Tsubasa, Case Closed, Witchblade, Shin Chan, Deathnote (Not funimation), Bleach(not funimation), Ouran, FMA, Spiral, Shuffle!.... Basically anything that isn't a gore fest or has giant robots. lol

That reminds me, I must finish Deathnote, Ouran, and pick-up+continue Bleach! Can't wait!
Speaking of giant robots, I'm a Neon Genesis Evangelion fan. I'm planning NGE marathon for when I return-- I want to watch all the episodes and work on getting into a character from the series for an up-coming cosplay.

I love FMA and Ouran, but I think Mushi-shi totally stole my heart. It's a GREAT show. I know a few people that didn't necessarily like it, but I'd recommend it to anyone.
And Cowboy Bebop is amazing. Definitely one of my favorites. FLCL is one I love, along with Ergo Proxy, which is awesome.

^We have some of the same favorites and so, I am now determined to watch "Mushi-shi" and "Ergo Proxy"!!!
Other people on this forum said they love "Mushi-shi". What's it about? I don't believe I've ever heard of it.

The ones I've been actively following of late:
--CLANNAD* (which just wrapped with After Story coming soon, likely in the fall) --Yotsunoha --H2O ~Footprints in the Sand~*
And a few others I'm woefully behind on.
I am involved in a fansubbing effort of any of the marked series.

I just finished watching Higurashi no Naku Koro ni [Kai] (translated: When They Cry). It was great^^ The first season was all gory and messed up, yet cute. And the second season explains why everything happened in the first season.
I'm also watching Comic Party Revolution - yet to finish. Comic Party is so funny X3
And right now I'm watching Lucky Star. Thought I'd check it out since my step brother watched it. And I tried watching Black Cat, but there is no where to watch it >.<, so I'll just buy the manga sometime.
I'm not sure what to watch after Lucky Star though, I've seen and read: Zatch Bell, Naruto, D.N. Angel, Trinity Blood, Bleach, .Hack// Legend of the Twilight, .Hack// Sign, Midori Days, Kekkaishi, Comic Party, Comic Party Revolution, R.O.D, Higurashi no Naku Koro ni, Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kai, The Prince of Tennis, Amazing Agent Luna, Jigoku Shoujo, Azumanga Daioh, Death Note, FLCL, and Paranoia Agent.
Any suggestions??? X3 (Btw, is The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya any good??? I've seen the first episode though)

Laila Izuka wrote:(Btw, is The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya any good??? I've seen the first episode though) It's pretty good, but one suggestion: DO NOT watch it in the order on the "normal DVDs"! You want to watch them in the order they were aired on TV to get maximum enjoyment. One person went so far as to pan the series because he didn't know that the show aired "out of order". The actual final episode which aired ended up being the next-to-last episode on the second DVD. As a result of this order coupled with his ignorance of this, he did not buy the rest of the series. Based on the "normal" DVDs which are shown in DVD order which is ALMOST in chronological order, here's the exact order you want to watch this show: Code:1. Vol 1, first episode 2. Vol 1, second episode 3. Vol 1, third episode 4. Vol 2, fourth episode 5. Vol 1, fourth episode 6. Vol 3, second episode 7. Vol 3, first episode 8. Vol 3, third episode 9. Vol 4, third episode 10. Vol 2, first episode 11. Vol 4, second episode 12. Vol 4, first episode 13. Vol 2, second episode 14. Vol 2, third episode
This is based on the article on Wikipedia, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_The_Melancholy_of_Haruhi_Suzumiya_episodes The list is a chart which sports sort widgets so you can sort which order you wish to see the series. In the case of airing order, you use column "B", sorting it in ascending order. Match it up with column D to see which DVD and which episode(s) and in which order you need to watch them given your sorting criteria. Hope this helps, as verbose as it is! --Ian.
